Applications are now open for a £6,000 research bursary to support an ophthalmologist in training to undertake an epidemiological study of a rare eye condition through the British Ophthalmological Surveillance Unit (BOSU).
The RED Trust bursary, which is funded with support from The Research in Eye Disease Trust, will enable the successful applicant to develop their research knowledge and skills. It will also add to the body of knowledge of rare eye diseases and conditions.
Suitable conditions for BOSU studies are a predicted annual incidence of less than 5 per million (approximately 300 cases per annum in the UK), however we believe that topics with an expected incidence of between 75 and 125 are best suited for this award.
The BOSU can support trainees with their applications for the RED bursary. Please contact Barny Foot at [email protected] or 07808 581659 for an informal discussion.
Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 23 August.
