The College is offering members the opportunity to propose a seminar topic as part of our annual seminar and events programme.
We host and manage one-day seminars throughout the year on a variety of clinical topics from refractive surgery to emergency ophthalmology and paediatric cataracts. Members can submit a proposal on any clinical topic, whether you want to shout about your sub-specialty or share how your research is shaping the future of patient care and more! Seminars can be hosted at our London office, by Euston Station, or in an event space outside of London. We take care of all the logistics and provide administrative support, all we need is an exciting topic and a Chair to create the programme and run the session.
Previous seminar Chairs have shared their experience of running a day-long seminar with us. Running your own seminar is great way to keep up to date with knowledge and skills. Yit Yang explains why he took up the opportunity, “I approached the College to run my own seminar so I could bring together experts to explore new ways of working and learning. It’s a great reminder of how little one knows and there’s a brilliant team at the College supporting you to deliver the seminar.”
Melanie Hingorani recommends the experience to support your own professional development and network with like-minded professionals on a topic of mutual interest. Melanie said “These seminars truly break down barriers, it brings together a range of professionals and different doctors who all learn together, and from one another too. It’s incredibly easy to do, just approach the College with an idea and then ask speakers who nearly always say yes to a College hosted event”.
A typical seminar runs from 10am to 4.30pm and includes six to eight lectures. To submit a proposal for our 2020 events programme, contact [email protected] with a topic and a short synopsis by Friday 8 November 2019. You may also contact Julie if you have any questions or wish to see an example of a seminar.
