The Curriculum Transition Checklist (CTC) tools have been developed to assist the transition of trainees into the new curriculum. Their main purpose is to help current ST1-3 trainees to prepare for the new curriculum as they will be in the later stages of training when the new curriculum formally begins in August 2024. Checklists should be completed by 30 June 2022 to allow the planning of further training to cover any gaps.
Although current ST1-3 trainees and Educational Supervisors are directly affected, this might also be of interest to senior trainees. The process has been designed to be trainee-led and the objective is to match WpBAs and already gained competencies to the Learning Outcomes of the new curriculum. Current ST1-3 trainees are strongly encouraged to meet with their Educational Supervisors to verify the evidence after the initial self-assessment.
The CTC should be viewed as a developmental tool, not as a formal assessment, to ensure that there are no significant gaps in training before the transfer. Later in the year, more checklists will be made available for trainees above ST3 who will already have some Special Interest Area (SIA) experience before transferring over to the new curriculum. Checklist templates and the first Implementation Note with more information about the process are on the College’s website.
