The abolition of NHS England is clearly a major decision by the government. While we wait to see further detail, the delivery of crucial work including the Long Term Workforce Plan refresh and 10 Year Plan must remain on track.
Almost 600,000 eye patients are currently waiting for an appointment to see an ophthalmologist. We must continue to prioritise patients and remain 100% focused on putting in place the support needed to improve services and prevent irreversible sight loss.
We will work with the transition team to offer our support on workstreams that are vital for ophthalmology.
