RCOphth & NHS England Elective Care Transformation joint seminar

Start: 21st June 2019

Type: Seminar

Description: A seminar for those delivering Eyeswise - the National Elective Care Transformation Programme (ECTP) High Impact Intervention for ophthalmology. This includes clinical leads, clinical directors, consultants leading subspecialty services, consultants responsible for delivering services and their managerial and nurse manager colleagues. It is also suitable for those in the devolved nations facing similar challenges in tackling mismatched capacity and demand in ophthalmology services. The focus of the seminar is to help senior eye unit staff understand and deliver the actions required to improve capacity and transform services to reduce follow up delays within their own units and regions. It will review the ECTP aims, actions and the next phase of the Eyeswise programme, the reasons why change is required to prevent delays to follow ups, and set them in the context of the recent significant regional reconfigurations and potential national legislative NHS changes. Those who have succeeded and those who are still on the journey to improved services and reduced follow up delays, from the commissioner and the provider side, will share how they have achieved change and how to tackle barriers, and there will be plenty of time for sharing of learning, resources and discussions to help everyone undertake the practical actions to protect their local high risk ophthalmology patients in partnership with their commissioners.
